What’s new?
This new version presents some improvements compared to the original one:
- it runs from any browser, thus from anywhere (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, …)
- it relies on SVG to offer the best possible visual quality regardless of the screen used to play it
- it adapts its size to take advantage of the full available screen resolution
- it’s click (or tap) only: no drag and drop that would leave greasy trails on a touch screen
- there is an automated-moves (double-click) feature and a hint feature
- no clock ticking or move counts while playing that would make playing it stressful
- no undo penalty on score
- animation shows all required moves, even for moves of card stacks
- for a won game, the score is set by comparison with the computer’s best solution
Of course this version remains ad-free.
What for?
But the real aim of this web app is to showcase numerunique’s design and coding style:
A sleek and minimalist design with:
- light card design (no distracting embellishments) that helps concentration during the search for a solution
- no useless “New” button (simply reload the page)
- entering the same deal number restarts the game
- no “history” or best scores among recorded previous plays
Plain-English documentation that states precisely what it does, which in other contexts would be crucial to distinguish real bugs from evolving requirements.
A coding style mastered over 42+ years of professional experience with:
- the DIP strategy and the SIC tactic
- the core first, improvements next, details last overall approach
- a readable and well-commented code (useful comments only)
- keen attention to detail
- anti-hackers fences
Why buy it?
The game runs in the user’s browser (already available) but the scoring is done on the server. All required files are sold under the GPLv3 open source licence.
